How to Choose Tungsten Carbide Rods Grade?

Choosing the tungsten carbide round bar grades need to be based on the application area and the specific application environment. For example, if tungsten carbide rod is machined into a tool and then the material is processed, the hardness of the processed material can be taken into consideration when choosing the grade of tungsten carbide rod.

If the processing of aluminum, copper and other soft materials, you can choose relatively low hardness, good toughness carbide grades, such as YG8 in the YG category (WC - Co category). Because of the soft material on the tool wear is small, do not need too high hardness, but need the tool in the cutting process has a good toughness to withstand the cutting force, to prevent chipping.

For machining medium-hard materials such as ordinary steel and alloy steel, YL, YW (WC - TiC - Co) or fine-grained YG grades can be selected. For example, YL10.2, this type of alloy has both wear resistance and toughness, and can maintain good cutting performance and tool life when cutting medium hardness materials.

When machining hardened steel, stainless steel and other high hardness materials, should choose high hardness, wear-resistant cemented carbide grades, such as YT15 in YT class (WC - TiC - TaC (NbC) - Co class), or use coated cemented carbide, which can better maintain the sharpness of the cutting edge and wear-resistant in the machining of high hardness materials.
